I was looking at a fashion magazine the other day and laughed out loud. The other gals at FashionBlast wanted to know what was so funny. I called them over to see. Here’s a synopsis of the article we were reading “Designersare going to extremes to simplify styles. Shapes are sleek and colors cost-effective”. The article then went on to show a $900 YSL top, $995 Jimmy Choo bag, $1545 Jil Sander dress, $300 Marc Jacobs earrings, $2000 Ralph Lauren harem pants (talk about ridiculous looking) and a $3545 Gucci dress along with many other examples of the same high cost high end fashions. Although we still haven’t been able to figure out what this magazine means by colors being “cost-effective” it’s easy to see the fashions they’re offering are far from cost-effective.

So when will these designers learn that our wallets aren’t quite the same as they were a year ago (or even six months ago)? I guess they haven’t heard about the financial downturn. Perhaps Ralph Lauren doesn’t have a television or radio at his 20,000+ acre Crested Butte Colorado ranch.
