We know that shopping for jeans can be a frustrating experience. Just who are they made to fit anyway? Certainly not most of us. Statistics show that the average woman tries on nine pairs of jeans before finding a pair that fits.
With the advent of stretch material finding comfortable jeans has become easier. Manufacturers of woman’s jeans are also trying to help us find our perfect fit with a dizzying array of cuts and styles. As we have the same fit issues that you do we’ve got a few suggestions we hope will make finding your perfect jeans just a bit easier.
Our first suggestion is if you’re trying to create a slim look stick with a dark wash. A solid dark wash jean will always make you look slimmer no matter what cut you choose. We consider dark wash jeans to be a good fashion investment as they can take you from your day look into your night look. Dark jeans are much more appropriate when you want a dressy jean look.
Fading and feathering accents on denim jeans have become very popular. Just remember that some of these techniques can actually emphasize body flaws that you don’t want emphasized. If you have large thighs a dark wash boot cut jean will help balance out your look.
Remember that others are seeing you from behind. One thing that we’ve noticed with some low rise jeans is pockets that sit very low on your butt. We don’t think they’re attractive at all. If the pockets on the jeans hit the back of your thigh they’re way too low.
If your problem is a flat butt look for jeans that have detailing on the pockets, this detailing can help make your butt area look fuller. Smaller pockets help too. Make sure that you get a jean that is a slim fit through the hips and thighs as the last thing you want is excess fabric. Low rise jeans also help create curves.
Most of us aren’t perfectly proportioned and have issues fitting into jeans that are cut to hit at the waist. If you are short waisted you’ll find that mid rise jeans, jeans that hit just below the waist, are very comfortable and generally have a more flattering fit than jeans cut to hit right at the waist.
We really would suggest that if you are lucky enough to find your “perfect” jeans that you buy several pair, maybe 4 or 5. We’ve read about women who stockpile dozens of pairs of their favorite jeans. We won’t go that far, but it is a good idea to buy several pairs when you finally find the right ones.
